CarryShield privacy policy

Effective date: October 20, 2026 · Developer: Neuromorph Systems, LLC, doing business as Galadriel Labs · Contact: support@carryshield.org

CarryShield is designed so that your information stays on your device. We do not have accounts, servers that store user data, advertising, or analytics.

What stays on your device

  • Permits you save (issuing state, permit type, resident status, dates, permit number, notes, and an optional photo of the card). Permit numbers and notes are encrypted with a key held in Android Keystore. Permits and photos are excluded from Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer.
  • Profile settings (state of residence, age range, theme, followed states and topics). These may be included in your Android device backup.
  • Location. Only while you have Trip Mode turned on, CarryShield uses your device's location to detect when you cross a state line. Location is processed on the device to determine which state you are in. It is not uploaded, shared, or stored after the Trip Mode session ends. CarryShield does not request background-location permission; Trip Mode runs as a foreground service with a visible notification.

What is sent off your device

  • Legal data updates. The app periodically downloads public legal data files from our static host Cloudfare. These requests contain no personal information beyond what any web request includes (IP address, user agent), which the host may log under its own policy.
  • Crash reports (optional). If enabled (Settings → Send crash reports), the app sends crash diagnostics to Google Firebase Crashlytics: device model, OS version, app version, stack trace, an installation identifier, the legal-data revision and the name of the screen that was open. Crash reports never include your permits, location, or state of residence. You can turn this off at any time. See Google's Firebase privacy information.
  • Purchases of CarryShield Pro are processed by Google Play. We receive only confirmation that a subscription is active; we do not receive your payment details.

Your choices

  • Delete any permit (and its photo) from the Permits screen; uninstalling the app deletes all app data.
  • Turn crash reports off in Settings.
  • Revoke location or notification permissions in Android settings at any time.

Children

CarryShield is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their information.
